Notes

 

Resilience, it's only a word. It's bound up with inevitable; accident; effort; toil; trouble; tied-up (that’s two- hyphens don’t count…)

 

Because it is resilience that brought this album to your ears. And through it all it’s the music that shines brightest. After a series of false starts and dramas - pandemics, lockdowns, broken hips, hearts, homes and hard drives - we got there. It would seem…

 

Here are 12 tracks written and revised over a five-year period from around 2020 though it seems so long ago now that it could well have been longer.

 

All songs were written and recorded in demo form at my home studio with Rupert Cobb and then engineered, mixed and mastered by Ben Simpson with Rupert at Gun Hill and Shaw Barn studios in Sussex. Andrea Hunnisett provides keyboards (piano, Hammond and harmonium) on several tracks and Peter Van Hooke adds drums on two tracks. Additional backing vocals are provided by Suzy Ann Smith and Chris Sagan (both of CrazyHeart.) The rest is me.

 

" ... and so, what's it all about?" They asked.

Lots of things I guess but mostly it’s about Love, I said. Love past, love present, love lost and love regained.

“... and when’s it coming out?” They asked.
