Winter's Tree...
When Winter’s tree falls on the grass, the memory of summer’s passed and golden leaves lie round about fallen down and cast for us to plunder.
What lies beneath the ancient bark in this season of the cold and dark when northern skies with dark intent bring snow and ice and windy storms and thunder.
In majesty stands winter’s tree, with you and me.
For all the years mark ancient shapes that draw the lines in your wooden face and make us wish for warmer times when sunny days return again in season. In majesty stands winter’s tree and you and me.
Beware the fools who’d wear your crown with crueller thoughts that cut you down. Their baubles jewelled with needles spike bring bitter winds that whispers bite. In majesty stands winter’s tree and you and me
And every branch of barren brown contains a wish that slowly drowns that seems to wash away all hope of life and love beyond all earthly reason.
But in majesty stands Winter ‘s tree...
